New details have emerged about Newland Communities’ latest master-planned community near the Grand Parkway. The San Diego-based developer submitted plans to the City of Houston for Elyson, a 3,619-acre community near Beckendorff Road and the Grand Parkway. The community will consist of single-family homes, townhomes and commercial space, according to city plat records released late Nov. 7th. A call to Newland Communities for more details was not immediately returned.
The first homes are expected to be built near Porter Road and Beckendorff Road, according to plat records. Elyson residents will be zoned to either Katy ISD or Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. At least three Katy elementary schools and one Cy-Fair elementary school are planned for the community.
Bear Creek runs through Elyson, so plans call for several detention ponds and lakes in the community. Several dozen acres of land along the Grand Parkway are planned for commercial place and “future development” according to the plat records.
Elyson will join four other Newland communities in the Houston metropolitan region: Cinco Ranch in Katy, Telfair in Sugar Land, Summerwood in Houston, and Eagle Springs in Humble.
The Grand Parkway has spurred a flurry of new development in the suburbs of Houston. Earlier this year, local investors snatched up 621 acres near Elyson for a new development, and Houston-based Johnson Development announced plan s to build a new master-planned community on 1,300 acres at the intersection of the Grand Parkway and West Airport Boulevard in Fort Bend County.
