therules2This is a very common question, and, it has a simple answer. This rule is for our visitors protection! If any and everybody could just post anything they want, our visitors would have to see it. Unfortunately, the web is full of “preditors” and those that misbehave, just to cause problems. Believe me, it is worth the few minutes it takes to register and log in, to not have to see the comments that are, just SPAM, at best, and links to sites with all kinds of unmentionable stuff. So, please, it only takes a few minutes, and anyone can register, as long as they play nice and do not try anything that could offend our visitors. If, anyone should find a “bad” comment that somehow slips through, please use the Contact form and report it to me, the Site Admin,  thank you all for your patience.

spam_canI hope that everyone reads this, this is a very important issue. SPAM is one of the biggest problems on the Internet, it tops virus, spyware, pop-ups, or any other problem. What is SPAM?  No, e-mail SPAM is not that meat like substance that comes in a can, SPAM is junk mail, junk mail that fills up your inbox, and can bring with it, all sorts of bad things, like the afore mentioned virus and spyware threats. Please read this and take it to heart, I have learned this the hard way. DO NOT PUBLISH YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS ANYWHERE!

Years ago, when trying to market my websites and such, I posted my email addresses everywhere, now, those email addresses are still being bombarded with thousands of SPAM e-mails, yes, I have SPAM filters, but, they still get through, so the best way to prevent this from happening, is to not let it get started in the first place!

How do SPAMMERS get your email address? Well, the worst ones, the are the ones that harvest and sell your email address to others, use programs called bots, much like the search engines do, but all they look for is email info! When they find it, you get put on a list, the next thing you know, you start getting SPAM!

There are several ways to help prevent this, but the best way is to use a Contact Form, as this site does, the bots can’t get your info, and it does save a bit of extra work for someone wishing to send you a message because all they have to do is fill out the form and hit Submit. So, always try to use the Contact Form when possible, whether writing a post here or anywhere else, link to the Contact form in your posts. It may not seem as personal, but it keeps the bots from getting you on a list! Do it like this, Contact site admin, if anyone here needs help on this, just let me know.

Spreadfirefox Affiliate Button I know, you are using Internet Explorer, it is familiar, you have used it for years, it even came with your computer, why should you even bother to learn how to use Firefox? I can think of many reasons actually, but the main one is security, Firefox is the most secure browser available, and to get any add-ons, or plugins for IE can be expensive. As someone who spends many, many hours on the Internet, I need all of the security I can get, and I love all of the FREE add-ons, themes and plugins! Firefox can be modified to suit your needs, and your personality, and the performance is just incredible! If you want a faster browser, you can leave out or deactivate some of those plugins, but, even using about 30 or so, my Firefox is still faster than Explorer! You can use just about any browser you want, if it is current, but just in case you have IE6, it is definitely time to upgrade. Why, you may ask, simple, web designers and developers build websites using “standards” and IE6 just doesn’t play nice, even IE7 has issues with some of the newer things being done here on the web. As an example of one thing that you are missing, look at the 2 screenshots below, the first one is with Firefox, the second with IE7.

Notice the rounded corners? Look at the orange, it is easy to spot, but the navbar, and the boxes in the sidebar, just about every corner is rounded. Now look at the next picture.

save Notice the difference? Now is when you are supposed to follow the link at the top, and download Firefox 3, yes, at first you may not notice too much, but, if you follow this link to the “add-ons“  page, you can begin to customize your new browser, and yes, it is all FREE! If you haven’t downloadedFirefox yet, you may be wondering why I am promoting Firefox, simple, as a webdesigner, I HATE Internet Explorer! It is a bit depressing to work on a site, modifying code, and tweaking it just right, only to have and inferior browser mess it all up! It is my duty to help others experience the Internet, the way it was intended, so, I hope that you upgrade to Firefox, you won’t regret it, and after all, you will still have Explorer, should you decide that you don’t like Firefox. Oh, you will not lose your bookmarks, or favorites as it is called in Explorer, when you install Firefox it will prompt you to import them. Have fun!
